India Working Group on Health Advocacy (IWG) organized a Health financing & budget process engagement meeting with civil society representatives and community health champions on 13th February 2020 in New Delhi India, supported by GFAN AP New Venture Fund subgrants. The meeting was organized in collaboration with the High Commission of Canada to India.

The overall objective of the training was to increase understanding of domestic health financing processes and to create a road map to collectively engage for increased domestic health budget for HIV, TB and Malaria.

Welcome remarks were delivered by Ms Abhina Aher, member of the IWG and Mr Aly – Khan Rajani, Counsellor and Head – Advocacy Programme (Public Diplomacy, Media, Academic and Cultural Relations) of the High Commission of Canada. Professor Indrani Gupta, Institute of Economic Growth, conducted a session on Domestic Health Financing. Ms Gayatri Maan and Ms Prachi Mishra conducted an overview of Health Expenditure in India. Ms Blessina Kumar, a member of the IWG, shared an update of the IWG priorities and activities for 2020 and Ms Sonal Mehta facilitated a work planning session for IWG Champions on Domestic Health Financing.
