Global Fund Sixth Replenishmentfor Allocation Cycle 2020 – 2022
A Fully Resourced Sixth Replenishment of the Global Fund is Needed!
The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) raises funding in three-year cycles known as Replenishments. This allows the Global Fund to inform implementing partners of a “funding allocation” and allows them to plan effectively.
The replenishment of the Global Fund is a long process in which donor governments, private sector, private donors and foundations, high net worth individuals and civil society among others collaboratively work and advocate to mobilize the required amount of investment to realize a fully-funded Global Fund.
Traditionally the Global Fund replenishment consists of two key events:
- The Preparatory Meeting – New Delhi India, 7 & 8 February 2019
- The Replenishment Conference – Lyon, France, 10 October 2019
The purpose of the preparatory meeting is to provide Global Fund partners with key information on the impact to be achieved and the financial resources needed to achieve the 2030 targets based on the investment case.
The Replenishment Conference convenes leaders from governments, civil society, the private sector and communities affected by the diseases.
Leading up to, during, and after the Replenishment Conference, donors from different sectors – including from governments, private sector and foundations, High Nett Worth Individuals (HWNI) – will announce their pledges to the Global Fund.

Global Action – Valentine’s Day
On the Saint Valentine’s day, 2019, communities and civil society advocates in over 45 countries sends “love letters” to embassies and high commissions of donor countries of the Global Fund and others to appreciate their continuous support for the fight against HIV, TB and Malaria since the establishment of the Global Fund and to call for increased and early pledges to the Global Fund Sixth Replenishment while in some countries our colleagues met the representatives of the donor countries to show our love and appreciation.
The #HeroesGiveMore campaign was conceived as the next phase of the #LoveMoreGiveMore campaign which recognised the local heroes on the ground – key affected populations and people living with and affected by the three diseases – who are not only beneficiaries of Global Fund grants, but also work alongside donors, technical partners, governments, and other stakeholders in decision-making processes, implementation of grants, delivery of services, monitoring and evaluating, and ensuring accountability. The #HeroesGiveMore campaign also recognised Heads of States, Heads of Private Sector and Private Foundations as heroes and urged them to step up their fight against the three diseases and get back on track through increasing their pledges to the Sixth Replenishment of the Global Fund.
