#MoreNowThanEver: Towards the Global Fund Eighth Replenishment

GFAN AP launched the “Moments that define us… #MoreNowThanEver!” campaign as a coordinated show of support from Asia-Pacific communities and civil society for a fully resourced Eighth Replenishment of the Global Fund. The launch event, organised in collaboration with Global Fund Advocates Network Africa (GFAN Africa), was attended by over 280 participants and speakers from communities and civil society organisations across Asia-Pacific, Africa, Europe, and included Country Coordinating Mechanism representatives from Asia-Pacific as well as representatives from the Global Fund Secretariat.

World Malaria Day 2025

GFAN AP published a joint statement with CSO Platform, Asia Pacific Leaders Malaria Alliance (APLMA), Civil Society For Malaria Elimination (CS4ME), and Seven Alliance on World Malaria Day titled “It is Time to Reinvest, Reimagine, and Reignite to End Malaria, More Now Than Ever!”. As communities and civil society in Asia Pacific and across the world at risk of and/or vulnerable to malaria, we call on leaders, duty-bearers, and all stakeholders to support a fully resourced Global Fund Eighth Replenishment, mobilise increased domestic resources, scale up investments in health and community systems, and increase funding for research and development into new anti-malaria technologies.

World TB Day 2025

GFAN AP, together with GCTA, Seven Alliance, and Global TB Caucus Asia Pacific region released a joint statement on World TB Day titled “#MoreNowThanEver, We Can End TB by 2030!”. Standing alongside civil society and communities living with, affected by and/or vulnerable to TB across Asia-Pacific, we call on donors, technical agencies, and national governments to accelerate the fight against TB with reinvigorated political commitment, increased investments, and impact-driven delivery, as well as to support all efforts leading towards a successful Global Fund Eighth Replenishment with earlier and increased pledges.

Global Health Funding at a Crossroads

In response to the crisis in global health funding, GFAN AP and the Seven Alliance jointly coordinated an emergency convening with affected communities and civil society across Asia-Pacific. The discussion brought together community and civil society stakeholders for collective analysis of the current funding crisis and its implications for the Asia-Pacific region; fostered greater awareness, urgency, and readiness to respond proactively to new developments; and initiated broader information sharing and collaborations towards coordinated action.

World AIDS Day 2024

GFAN AP, together with APCOM, APN+, APNSW, ICWAP, NAPUD, and Youth LEAD released a joint statement advocating for leaders to ‘Take the Rights Path’ towards ending the AIDS epidemic. In solidarity and unison with Asia-Pacific communities and civil society, we call on leaders, donors and duty-bearers to uphold and protect human rights for all, including key and vulnerable populations living with, affected by and/or vulnerable to HIV; substantially increase resourcing for HIV interventions in the Global Fund’s Eighth Replenishment; increase mobilisation of domestic resources for health in recipient countries; and advocate for empowerment and direct resourcing to communities.

World Mental Health Day 2024

GFAN AP, United for Global Mental Health and the Seven Alliance jointly released a statement on World Mental Health Day titled “Mental Health Key for Healthy Workforce and Healthy Economies”. As communities and civil society from Asia-Pacific, we call on all stakeholders to strengthen human resources for health, counter the stigmatisation of mental health conditions, embed quality of life of people living with HIV and key populations, expand mental health care to community and primary settings, and support the Eighth Replenishment of the Global Fund to ensure that mental health is prioritised and sufficiently resourced.

The Global Fund Advocates Network Asia-Pacific (GFAN AP) is an advocacy platform of HIV, tuberculosis and malaria community and civil society advocates in the Asia-Pacific region. We support advocacy for a fully resourced Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund), increased & sustainable domestic resource mobilisation for health, and equitable, people-centred, human rights-based, & gender transformative inclusion of HIV, TB and malaria responses within Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
