The Action held in Uganda was led by Uganda Network of Young People Living with HIV (UNYPA).

Letters have been prepared and sent to Embassies of Australia, Belgium, Canada, China, European Commission, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom and United States of America.

Representatives arranged for face-to-face meetings with the embassies of United Kingdom, Germany, Ireland, Sweden and Norway.

Visit at the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland

On the 13th February 2019, colleagues from UNYPA met with Ms. Robinah Lukwago, Heath Advisory of UK/DFID at the British High Commission.

During the meeting UK/DFID expressed happiness that their contributions to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria has impact in the thematic areas of HIV, TB and malaria, and they looked forward to more outcomes of the impact of funding through the Global Fund in Uganda.

In her closing remarks, Ms Robinah Lukwago, DFID Health Advisor said that the Government of the UK will increase its pledges to the Sixth Replenishment and that communities and civil society should look forward to how much more they would be contributing towards the Global Fund.

Visit at the Embassy of the United States of America

On the 14th February 2019, colleagues from UNYPA met with H.E. Ambassador Deborah Ruth Malac and Amy Cunningham, PEPFAR Country Director.

Visit at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway

On the 14th February 2019, colleagues from UNYPA met with Ambassador Susan EcKey at the Norgwegian Embassy, who was joined by Told Schei Halvosen, Head of Health and Refugee Programmes.

Visit at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Sweden

On the 14th February 2019, UNYPA met with the Ambassador H.E Per Lindgarde and Annelie Areskär, National Programme Officer, SRHR at the Swedish Embassy.

UNYPA expressed appreciation of the Swedish government towards the Global Fund and called for an early and increased pledge for the Sixth Replenishment. 

Ambassador Lindgarde expressed that the meeting was arranged in a timely matter and for him to convey the messages to capital. Furthermore he expressed the deep commitment of Sweden to see a generation that is able to lead healthy lifestyles, and committed to following up with conversations in capital to be shared afterwards. 

Visit at the Embassy of Ireland

On the 14th February 2019, UNYPA met with Jackie Katana HIV/AIDS Advisory to the Irish Embassy.

Visit at the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany

On the 14th February 2019, UNYPA met with the German Embassy to deliver the letter and roses. As the Ambassador was on mission, the letter and roses were received by Beckie, PA to the Ambassador.
