A letter was sent to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, H.E. Ms Kang Kyung-Wha.
For the Fifth Replenishment of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) in 2016, Republic of Korea pledged USD 11,773,844 to the Global Fund for the 2017 – 2019 allocation cycle.
Through its long-term partnership and contribution to the Global Fund, The Republic of Korea has achieved an unprecedented impact in global health by supporting programmes that have contributed to saving 27 million lives since 2002 in more than 100 countries thanks to its commitment to development and global health, and its innovative approach to financing global health with the air levy tax. We appreciate Republic of Korea’s commitment to continue to increase its Overseas Development Assistance (ODA) to 0.2% of Gross National Income (GNI) by 2020 recognizing the importance of ODA as a critical development resource in the SDGs era, especially for poor and vulnerable countries with special needs.
