Burkina Faso
Burkina Faso is both a donor to the Global Fund and implementer of Global Fund supported programmes. Burkina Faso pledged has pledged US$ 1.08 million to the Global Fund and for the Sixth Replenishment pledged US$ 1 million.
Burkina Faso has been a recipient of the Global Fund since 2003, and has been disbursed over US$ 704 million for grants for HIV, TB, malaria, TB/HIV and RSSH. Burkina Faso is also a part of the following multicountry grants of the Gobal Fund – Multicountry TB WC Africa NTP/SRL, Multicountry Western Africa ANCS and Multicountry Western Africa HI.
New Global Fund investments made in 2018 in the country supported efforts to scale up HIV programmes to achieve the 90-90-90 targets by enrolling more than 93,000 people on antiretroviral treatment by 2020, and expanding HIV services – including access to prevention and treatment for key populations. The new grants also aimed to strengthen the country’s supply-chain management, improve TB case detection, and procure 12 million mosquito nets for the 2019 mass distribution campaign.
