Communities and Civil Society Applaud Japan’s Increased Pledge for Global Fund Seventh Replenishment
Global Fund Advocates Network Asia-Pacific (GFAN AP) together with Africa Japan Forum, the Activists Coalition on TB – Asia Pacific (ACT! AP), APCASO, APCOM, Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV (APN+), Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers (APNSW) , Global Coalition of TB Activists (GCTA), Network of Asian People who Use Drugs (NAPUD), Youth LEAD and Youth Voices Count (YVC) and communities and civil society living with, affected by and/or vulnerable to HIV, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria in the Asia-Pacific region applauds Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, the Government of Japan and its people.
Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan announced USD 1.08 billion pledge to the Seventh Replenishment of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (Global Fund) on 27th August 2022, at the Eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD8) held in Tunisia. This is the first pledge from a G7 country that has pledged an increase of 30% from its Sixth Replenishment pledge covering 2020 – 2022 of USD 840 million. Japan is the fifth largest public donor to the Global Fund and has contributed USD 4.24 billion to date.
