Statement
#MoreNowThanEver,
We Can End TB by 2030!
This statement is jointly released by Global Fund Advocates Network Asia-Pacific (GFAN AP), Global Coalition of TB Advocates (GCTA), Global TB Caucus Asia Pacific region, and the Seven Alliance on World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2025 with the theme “Yes! We Can End TB: Commit, Invest, Deliver”.
TB is a preventable and curable disease; yet it remains the world’s deadliest infectious disease. In 2023, TB caused 10.8 million new infections and resulted in the deaths of 1.25 million people globally, including 161,000 people living with HIV (PLHIV) and 191,000 children. Asia-Pacific is the region with the highest disease burden and account for the top five countries with the highest incidence of TB worldwide; and of the 10.8 million people who fell ill with TB, almost two-thirds of all cases (62%) are from the WHO regions – Southeast Asia (45%) and Western Pacific (17%).
The Seven Alliance, GCTA, Global TB Caucus Asia Pacific region, and GFAN AP stand with communities and vulnerable populations affected by TB in reminding world leaders of the renewed commitments made in the 2023 Political Declarations on TB and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) to accelerate progress towards timely, quality, and universal access to TB services to achieve the 2027 and 2030 targets.
